An Overnight Skitour to the Tammakkolampi Hut - Finland

After doing various cross-country skiing trips close to Saariselka in the past (see here and here), it was time for something new: a short 2-days ski tour in February 2025 into the Urho Kekkonen National Park where we stayed at the Tammakkolampi hut for 1 night.

The cabin was built in 1967 and has been renovated various times in the last decades. It is ideal for 2 people as 3 and more can become a challenge in terms of space. Be aware: By default, the hut is locked. You need to officially reserve it beforehand. During that process, you will get equipped with a code for the keybox right beside the hut door.

The trail to get there was relatively easy to follow since it had been marked by various snow mobiles beforehand. It still took us around 6 hours and 19,3 km to get to there from Kakslauttanen. The way back was slightly shorter with 17,7 km and 5,5 hours.
