The famous Ridge Hike - Fronalpstock to Klingenstock
This was probably one of the most “instagrammable” hikes I did in CH1 so far - but I still think it was worth it. The views are indeed amazing and the fact that it can be reached easily contributes strongly to the huge amount of people we met on a sunny Saturday afternoon.
This trail is literally a highway which can be done in 1,5 to 2 hours depending on how often you intend to rest on one of the countless benches (forgot to mention: they are probably taken already if you go on a sunny summer weekend ).
A good source for the hike can be found here. Don’t go there in case you want to be alone - you have plenty of alternatives for that purpose in CH. We took the funicular from Stoos valley station up to Stoos and hiked up to the Fronalpstock before heading down via Klingenstock. This funicular is part of the official Swiss Federal Railways and not privately owned. Hence the tickets are very cheap and can be bought here: 5.80 CHF in June 2025
In case you want to go from Stoos to one of the two mountains by cable car incl. return ticket, you must pay around 40 CHF.

Besides the Aletsch Glaciar Hike, which had probably 10% of the people we met on this hike. ↩︎
