We had a couple of hours left before the dark was supposed to set in. Hence, we decided to climb the snowy peak of the Bäderhorn in a couple of hours. It ended up a little bit more complicated than we thought.
Although the distance from the Jaunpass to the Bäderhorn Peak is only about 5km one way, it took us way longer due to snow still covering a larger part of the trail. This situation got worse when we started climbing up the ridge to the peak. Most of the trail signs were still covered in snow and what seemed to be an easy trail in summertime, was quite complicated to follow during this time of the year (May 2019).
We stopped a few altitude meters below the peak and returned back to the car since we were running out of time. All in all a great half-day trip although the weather conditions were not perfect.
