We did a one week bicycle roundtrip in September 2020 starting and ending in Zurich, CH. On our way, we visited Liechtenstein, Austria and Germany.

Traversing the Tannheim Mountains
The Tannheim Mountains (Austria) have been on my list for quite a while now – in July 2020, we spent a weekend there. Conclusion: Bad weather on the first day was lowering the view but not the mood – the ski resort in the middle of the mountains does not add a lot of bonus points to the hiking experience – but all in all it’s worth a visit.
Packrafting Upper Salzach
The upper Salzach river in Austria is an easy one for packrafting – in August 2019 I went there with a friend who is new to packrafting, so this was an excellent exercise to get a little bit familiar with navigating a river in a packraft.
Krimml – Warnsdorfer Hütte – Tauernhaus via Richterhütte
In August 2019, we spent 3 days in the Austrian National Park “Hohe Tauern” and did, besides Packrafting the Salzach, also a short 2-day hike from the town of Krimml, up to the Warnsdorfer Hütte (day 1). On day 2 we had a long hike from Warnsdorfer Hütte via Richter Hütte down to the Tauernhaus.

Hiking in the Grossglockner Region
The Grossglockner mountain (Austria) was hiding in fog on this day – this didn’t prevent us from hiking in this region while we crossed the Grossglockner High Alpine Road by car.
